Mum & Baby Oseopathy

At Stillpoint we understand the importance of being able to treat all members of the family, and the impact this may have on the family as a whole. Osteopathy is a gentle treatment suitable for everyone, from newborn infants to the elderly, at all stages of development.

All the osteopaths here at Stillpoint have undergone specific post-graduate training in order to treat pregnant women, babies and children. Cranial osteopathic techniques are safe, gentle, and non-manipulative and are often used when treating young children and newborn infants. Gentle treatment could help soothe and relax your baby.

Private Mum & Baby Osteopathy appointments are available with all our Stillpoint osteopaths, Monday through to Saturday.

What conditions does Osteopathy treat for mums and babies?

A woman’s body changes during pregnancy and beyond. Those changes include the softening of ligaments, weight increase and changes to posture, which can lead to additional pressure on joints in various parts of the body, including the spine or pelvis. Pregnancy can also cause general aches and pains. Osteopathy may help relieve the stresses and strains on your body during pregnancy and after birth. Osteopaths may also work with local health visitors, midwives and lactation consultants to give postural advice related to breastfeeding.

What will the treatment be like?

When visiting the clinic, we will take a detailed case history and undertake an examination to assess the needs of you and/or your baby and treatment options will be discussed. Osteopathy is based on the principle that the structure and function of the body are intimately related. If the structure is not balanced and healthy then the function is affected. Osteopaths believe that the healthy balance and function of the musculoskeletal framework of the body is essential to whole body health.
