She completed three years full-time training in Brighton and at the Constructive Teaching Centre in London with Walter Carrington. She is a member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique founded in 1958.

She has taught in adult education and in a School of Performing Arts and is the author of The Alexander Technique: A step by step guide, published by Thorson-Element.

Like many teachers Ailsa discovered the technique as a result her own lower back pain and asked so many questions of her teacher that it was suggested she trained herself. Her interest and commitment to the technique is life- long and shecontinues to learn from the many and varied conditions her pupils bring to her practise.
